Advertising
You can make money advertising on your website or blog space or selling "space" to just a
few advertisers.
If you decide to sell
space on your site, watch out for the scams
of people contacting you directly to request placing their ads on your site.
Using advertising on your website or blog can help you generate additional income, but many
webmasters (or bloggers) do not think of the other side of the coin.
If you have affiliate links within your content and/or are trying to sell a product, you may
lose the sale because someone sees an ad and will click on it. Even
though you may get money from the click, is it worth losing the sale?
But then again, if someone is not finding what they want on your site, you might
as well make money advertising other websites, services or products.
If you want to use Google Adsense, other advertisers could be used at the same time. It's
a good idea before you sign up to find out if that advertiser is a good match for your site contents and
if using adsense, can you also use the advertiser you are reviewing
(many will tell you in their FAQ's).
Do Not:

- Ask visitors or
friends to click the links
- Clutter your pages
with them
- Use as "commercial
break" for a short article
- Place on pop-up
windows
Do:
- Use the same colors
and style as your site
- Choose the correct
format for you site
- Use a border line
if placing near images
NetAudioAds - This new program launched in February 2008 has already started sweeping
the internet market. Don't miss out on your chance to get paid for your
website traffic. No clicking required.
Yahoo Publisher Network -
similar to Google Adsense. This is still in testing but catching up
with Google. I have seen many blogs talk about the problems with this
program. Adsense has been out for a long time and Yahoo has a long way
to go to catch up. But on the other hand the payouts (at times) may be better
using Yahoo.
Google Adsense - Don't think
I need to talk much about this as it is the most popular pay per click
program. You can earn anywhere from $.01 to $5.00 or more per click.
Besides adsense, here are other ways to make money with Google.
Chitika - This is one that you see on websites or blogs with double underlined keywords and a
little box will pop up when you mouse over. You may want to check them out as
they have all different types of programs to fit within your
theme.
Adbrite - If you have a lot
of traffic to your site you can "sell" advertising space. You review
each ad before it goes on your website and set the price. You are also able
to place a banner or text ad on your site and get paid. It is based on
CPM (cost per 1000 impressions).
Bidvertiser
- This is a Pay Per Click program. This can be used on a blog or
website.
